Fox was Bernhard DL4MHK.
He was hiding with Rodger-KE6NAN and his
Wife Lorretta. The Start was 5:00pm and when we first
got started, we were unable to hear the
fox from the start point.
We called Don KD6IRE and he listened
from his home along with Don KC6IPO, but
neither of them were able to hear the
signal.
Bob (KF6VSE) climbed up to the top of
the mountain and got a baring of 000
degrees true. There was a second baring
of 345 from Pete N6YIF. We plotted the
bearings on the maps and it appeared to
be in the Sunol Area. Rich KN6FW started North on I-680, but
his doppler said to turn up Mission
Blvd. He did and I continued up I-680.
I turned towards Sunol after not hearing
anything from the Fox. I continued
through Niles Canyon and met up with
Rich on the Fremont side. He had found
a strong signal, but couldn't place the
Fox. We both looked at our location,
compared readings from the Canyon and
found a possible location. We then
headed into the area and found the
Foxes. The Transmitter was in the Van and was
only transmitting .3 watts of power.
That with the location of the
transmitter in the van made the signal
very weak and difficult to hear until
you were very close. It was a good hunt and everyone found
the fox. Gary (WRU) won the hunt and
will be hiding for the Fremont Hunt
in January. Ron - N7TVE |
