Hunt date: July
30, 2005
Starting: 10:00 AM The Altamont Start Point.
One (1) hidden transmitter on 146.565 MHz. 125 watts into a 7 element
beam pointed north.
Mobile hunt, ending in Zepher Cove, Nevada.
Scoring method: Mileage.
The hiders were Henry-KE6PCE, Joan-KF6QGJ, Bill-KF6QGK and Susan.
The winner was Paul Shinn.Considering the
distance, I think we made very few mistakes. See Track map to the left. |

My initial
bearing was 45* true.
The
actual bearing to the Fox was 46* true.We only
heard the Fox sporadically, say every 10 or 20 miles, until we got to
Twin Bridges, close to Lake Tahoe. The Doppler pointed towards Lake
Tahoe most of the time when I dialed in some receiver attenuation so the
Doppler would only see strong signals.
We drove back the same day and arrived in Fremont at
12 midnight.
