Initial Bearing and GPS Track Map |
Hunting
equipment used for this hunt.
It seems I use these same tools on every hunt.1) 4-Element
ARROW Yagi. For my
initial bearing.
2) MK4 Sniffer.
Used as a receiver for my Yagi, as well as my
U-R-Here radio and close-in sniffer.
3) Compass, plastic map of
the Bay Area & protractor.
4) AHHA Microfinder
Doppler.
4) Garmin
StreetPilot-2610. Computer assisted route and street level maps.
It seems my initial bearing was off by 22 degrees. I
definitely think I read a reflection. The cure to this might have been
to take multiple reading and average them together. |

Bruce-W6TED has
developed a great little "LOOP" directional antenna. His 'LOOP' was
sensitive enough to hear the 'fox' from the start point and point in
it's direction. Bruce will be working on a production model soon.
The second photo shows Don-KD6IRE with his military
version of the "LOOP" antenna. |
|
|
The 'LOOP'
antenna works on a principal of receiving the magnetic wave from a
transmitter, not the electro-static signal. It seems to be immune to
reflections, pointing only to the transmitter. This also seems to be a
great close-in tool. Eliminating reflections and is small enough to
carry into a building. |

|
|
|
|
The 'fox'
transmitter is located on the side of a dead-end road. |

This area seems
to be a test site for upside down airplanes. |

No Parking ? If
you look closely, the sign has an arrow pointing East, indicating No

Dinner at
Mission Pizza Central. This was their last night serving customers. They
will be moving to 1572 Washington Blvd. (Fremont, CA.). |

See you at the
next hunt.
