Maps to the
left show a computer generated, best case shortest route, from the
Fremont start point to the fox transmitters. (8.79 miles). |
|
|
Map to the left
shows Johnathan-AE6HO's GPS track from the start point to both
transmitters. Note, Johnathan was initially tricked into Niles, the
wrong side of the Alameda Creek, along with four other teams.
The 'right' photo shows the two fox transmitters I used
for this hunt. Both 2.5-watts. |

Vito's Pizza, the end point and dinner location for this evenings hunt.
Vito's Menu (PDF).
Fox-2 was placed under a tree, in the parking lot in
front of Vito's Pizza. |
|
|
Fox-1 was
placed at the end of Fernwood Ct. A one-way in and out location next to
the Alameda Creek and percolation ponds.
Rich-KN6FW was the first hunter to arrive at Fox-1 with the shortest
time and lowest mileage. |
|
|
Don-KD6IRE and
Linda arrived six-minutes later, coming in 2nd place.
Johnathan-AE6HO and Nicholas-KG6MYQ arrived 32-minutes
after Rich, on the wrong side of the fence, coming in tied for 2nd
place. Johnathan was one of the teams, tricked into Niles however, he
drove around to Shinn Road and walked a foot trail along the creek. |
|
|
Photo to the
left is Johnathan and Nicholas. The right
photograph is of Dave-KG6ACD who would have come in 3rd, if he hadn't
been called way for a family emergency and couldn't complete the hunt. |
|
|
Chris
officially came in 3rd place with 20.1 miles.
Not pictured, Tony-AB6BR and Lynnette-KF6NEA showed up at Fox-1 (tied
for 2nd) from the wrong side of the fence. Having parked on Shinn Road
and walked in on a foot trail along the creek. |
|
|
James-N1DDK and
Andy-WD6CJK arrived at Fox-1 with 13.5 miles, a solid 2nd place.
Photo's of transmitter hunters eating at VITO'S. |
|
|
Pete-N6YIF and
Larry-KD6FFN, were tricked into the Niles area and couldn't get to me
from that side. They chose not to drive around "water-world" to sign the
hunters-log-sheet. |
|
|
Art-KF7GD came
in 4th place at 8:55 PM. Thanks for hunting, see
you at the next hunt.
